Last Saturday proved to be a mixed day for the Macarthur RAMS against the West Sydney Berries in the second round of competition.
In front of a crowd of nearly 2,000 at Campbelltown Stadium the 1st grade side came down to earth and were beaten 3-0 by their fellow newcomers in the Telechoice NSW Premier League.
In a tightly contested first half the Rams found themselves down a goal in the 32 nd minute and went into the sheds 1-0 down. However, in the second half the RAMS were outplayed by the Berries and they came out comfortable winners.
This was a disappointing result considering the boys' fantastic effort against Marconi last week sharing the points with a 1-1 scoreline.
The understrength Under 20's side put in a good effort to come out with a 2-2 draw. Goals to Scott Fairburn and Adel El Jamal put the RAMS 2-1 up and had to settle for a point.
The Under 18's also had a share of spoils with a 3-3 draw. In a game of two halves the RAMS shot to a 3-0 lead courtesy of three Casey Newman, and at half time our boys led 3-1. However, the second half proved a different story with the RAMS having to play most of the half a man down, the Berries stormed back into the game to gain a draw.
In other results, the Under 16's went down 1-0 in a surprising result. The RAMS created a heap of chances but were unable to convert.
Meanwhile the Under 15's continued with their good start to the season coming away with a 2-0 win, and with Coach Ned Kelava believing that there's a lot of improvement still in the team, the team could be the surprise packets of the competition.
The Under 14's also had a 3-3 draw in a much improved performance and the Under 13's went down 3-1.
In the Metropolitan League games against Sutherland, the MDSFA Under 11's were unlucky to go down 1-0 whilst the Under 12's picked up a solid 0-0 result. |
