Last Saturday the 19th we played PCYC (Parramatta Eagles), we came into the game with a perfect record of 3 wins from 3 games, but our boys where a bit stale from not playing for two weeks, some of them not attending training on a regular basis, and losing two players, Rocco who is in Brazil on a football scholarship with Fluminense and we also lost Simba Riva to the Bankstown City lions premier league club, on top of that we still have a few injuries and we are down on personnel, on a good note we welcome back Nicholas Hasiuk a player that was injured in one of our preseason games against Sutherland Sharks about 8 weeks ago.
In reference to Saturdays game I can tell you that from the kick off we where never in it we must of played the worst first half of the year and in the 3rd minute we where allready a goal behind and by the end of the first half we where 3 to 0 behind i dont know what the coach said to the boys in the dressing sheds but they came to play with a different frame of mind in the second half we where playing the way we should of played the first half we didnt let them dictate play, we were hungrier for the ball and more committed in our tackles we had several chances of scoring but luck was not in our side and the game finished 3 -0 to PCYC.
I hope that this is a wake up call to our boys ,and that this saturday they come to play with a different frame of mind and stay focus in the game, from what we could see from the stands PCYC was the better team on the day .... but not 3 goals better .................... till next week ............................... the Phantom |

On Sat the the 28th the Rams 16s faced Northern Spirit at lynwood park on a beautifull afternoon for a football game, the Rams started the game the way they finished the previous week at 100 miles per hour.
We again missed a few early chances with the goal at our mercy and we paid for it use the boys from Hornsby capitalised on a mistake by our defence and put the first goal of the game on the 6th minute 1-0 to them ,but that woke the sleeping giant and within a minute we got one back by our striker who had been very unlucky on previous week B Toogood he made a solo run throgh the middle and placed the ball out of the keepers reach to level the score 1-1..on the 7th minute, we kept creating a lot of chances but kept misssing the target, and we onced again paid dearly with another mistake at the back, they once again scored on the 19th minute 2-1 to them...Our defence that had played excellent in our previous games were shattered and it was up to the coaching staff to lift them up again we couldn't get the game into our rithym and Coach Touli and son Billy made some tactical changes to get the game under control and it was by doing this that we were awarded a free kick outside the area and our captain stepped up to take it, he placed the ball like a pro out of the keepers reach to give the game a 2-2 draw in the 30th min thats how the first half ended.
The coaches kept reminding the boys how important it is to make our apponents fear coming to LYNWOOD PARK and that they were still in the game due to our mistakes not because they were better then us, to tighten up in defence and play some quick balls to our strikers.
Our boys came out of the sheds like different players they wanted to win BADLY in one of the many runs by our captain in the righ side he took the ball to the corner line and crossed it back to the penalty spot and who was waiting there for the ball, none other then goal a game SIMBA RIVA he lept like a gazelle and headed the ball passed their keeper only to be denied by the offside flag by the lines person, (he was the only person in the stadium that saw that offside) ....... in the 54th min they countered attacked us and their centre forward found himself one on one with our keeper Dragan who came out at him making the goals shrink an he parried the ball in his giant hands, we started to create more spaces on midfield and to dominate once again in one of those quick plays B Toogod found himself inside the area with a bouncing ball which hit the defenders hand and the ref blew for a penalty Sean Symmons our captain put his hand up to take it and he once again did not dissapoint us to make the score 3-2 in the 65th minute .. two minutes later we are awarded a freekick outside the area and Symmons is instructed not only to take it but to put the ball under the cross bar and thats where he places the ball to give our team a 4 -2 score on the 67th minute after that our boys put their heads down and we let them score in the 69th minute 4-3 they then thought that they could get on top of us but no matter what they tried we had and answer for them the game finished 4-3 to us and we are still on top of the ladder after 3 games, that was a hard win and it took a real team effort to achive, we sent another team on a long drive home with nothing.
On a different note we at Macarthur Rams would like to wish our player Rocco Domine the best of luck with his trials at Fluminense Football Club in BRAZIL he is going for 10 weeks and will be missed by his team mates and club officials, they would like to dedicate saturdays win to him, ROCCO you show them what we are made of in MACARTHUR keep in touch ... all the best. Last saturday the boys played the Western Panthers fc ( bathurst ) and they knew that they were in for a tough game, since the panthers were also coming from a 2 o win against schofields. But our boys were reminded that this was our first home game and how important it is to win at home ..
The game started at a frantic pace on both sides the mountain boys were very quick and agressive with the ball . Our boys had to play the game that they were instructed to play by coach Touli and in the first 12 minutes we miss a couple of good chances, one of those misses on the counter attack which the mountain boys were doing quiet well they scored on the 15th minute to make it 1-0.. but our boys didn't put their had down and were again reminded by coaching staff to fallow instruction ,be patient and keep shape in midfield and it was by doing this that on the 21st minute from a corner taken by our captain our strikers S Riva and B Toogood pushed the ball in the back of the net to make the score 1 -1 four minutes later they had a very good opportunity to go ahead again if not for our goal keeper Drago that made a great one on one save from their striker the first half ended 1-1......... .
The second half started a a very quick pace again but our boys were dominating the game and were again reminded to be patient, several changes had to be made because of tired and injured players and we again had several chances that went astray and coaching staff were allready talking about been happy with a point when assistant coach Billy sugested why not give the foward line a bit of speed since he could see from the grandstand that their defence where getting tired and our coach introduced Dee Dee from the under 15s a player that has pace to burn and every time he touched the ball he created chances and in the 65minute one of our counter attacks Toogood played a quick ball for Dee Dee and he found himself face to face with their keeper he chipped him and ran aroud the keeper to make sure the ball hit the net to make the score 2-1 after that they went into panic mode and gave a free kick outside the area which our captain took and he hit the bottom of the post, the game ended 2-1 to the Rams .
The mountain boys had to go back home through the blue mountains empty handed, we must also comment on the way our back four played Sean ,Hayden ,Troy and Jordan had a very good game and kept us in the game at all times the rest was a very good team effort and our boys need to be congratulated for not giving up when we whent behind coaches and manager left the fiel with a grin from ear to ear we would like to thank the u/15s for helping us out from week to week and also the parents that helped in the canteen ............................................. Today we took the F3 and travelled to Pluim Park home of the Central Coast Lightning with a squad of players that have been struggling with injuries since the start of their pre season training.
The game started at a frantic pace with the rams trying very hard to keep their shape as instructed by their coach T Rossiddes, and with our captain Sean Symons leading the way in the 7th minute he took a low shot at goal that the keeper could not stop to lead 1- 0 in the 14th minute a cross from the right side by J De Gouveia was met by B Toogood but the defender block the shot and D Draca was on the spot to put the ball away for 2-0 in the first half.
At the start of the second half the coasties came at us with everything and if not for the good reflexes of our keeper D Ackov in the first 5 minutes they would of scored one back but it wasn't to be and we scored again in the 39th min with a header by S Riva from a freekick taken by our captain 3-0 ,in the 50th min the coasties had a free kick and they scored 3-1 we then had a lapsed in concentration and they scored again 3-2 coach Touli was pulling his hair out by this time but we then had a free kick taken again by our captain and he was instructed to go for goal and he placed it out of the keepers reach for a 4-2 in the 60th min our striker M Stricevic made a run on the left side playing a wall pass with Toogood and he placed the ball out of the keepers reach for a 5-2 deep in extra time.
M Stricevic made another run on the left and beat the keeper again but the ball was tapped in by a determined S Riva that made the score 6-2 and the game was over to the juvillation of coaching staff. and parents on the side lines.... well done guys you did yourself proud.
Coach: T Rossides, Assistant Coach: B Rossides and Manager: A Ruiz would like to congratulate you for playing the way you guys did, it was a great team effort keep it up for our next game at home to the western Panthers (Bathurst ) Thanks .............. The Phantom |
