Round 19 @ Pluim Park
I must say its great to be back with the boys, and I would like to thank everyone for their kind get well wishers, while I had my little holiday in hospital that I very much needed.
On Saturday the 25th half the team were fortunate enough to make their way up to the central coast were we stayed at the Country Comfort & The Clan Motels with a Crew of 25 of us we sat down to a beautiful meal at the new Terrigal hotel bistro, after we all had a lovely meal and a few cold beverages it was time at 9.15pm to get kids home for a good nights sleep so they would be ready to do the job we came up here for.
The kick off was sharp 8.55 am, and the C.C. were keen to get on with it and for the first 10 minutes it was one way traffic with some of their big lads forcing their authority, but we weathered the storm and that's where it stoped, cause for the next15 minutes we pushed them back to defend their line, with some great ball work from our back line thru to a well positioned midfield to a deep sitting Anthony at forward who delivered the perfect ball to Jordan "Crackers" who was on the absolute fly to break away on the right side for a right footed shot into the back of the net to put us 1-nill up, with a dominance of play we were unlucky not to increase our lead going into the break.
The second half started much the same as the later part of the first half with the Rams moving the defence around with good ball movement, but the C.C weren't finished yet with some big kicks back down field to get our backs scrambling to stop their fast forwards from equalising our lead, They went down the left side holding them deep towards the corner, they moved in field and from a wide angle put the ball across, our boys and keeper all missed it and it snuck in the corner from an near impossible angle to level at 1-1, thinking not another draw again with 10minutes to go, Liam delivered another quality ball to Keaton on the left side who burnt them for speed to finish with a beautiful left foot to put us back in front 2-1, with 3min to go we opened them up again with a nice ball to Anthony who wrong footed the last defender but with a rush of blood drilled one straight at the keeper it rebounded back to him, to lay off to Crackers on the right who planted it in the net but was ruled offside to finish the game at 2-1.
Every player today gave 110% and we cant ask for any more than that!, Callum the "Enforcer" did a great job at centre back where he looks very comfortable working with our other talented backs who did a top job today, The "flying" Flynn earn't his nickname today when he got hit by their giant left midfielder which put him about 2 foot in the air. . Pyney, Stogie, and Eric had good games in the middle, a very good team effort had by all boys. Keep up the good work. Mick Fielding |
Macarthur RAMS v Illawarra 26 April 2009
On the 26/4/09 Macarthur Rams Under 11's Metropolitan League team played Illawarra at Lynwood Park. It was the first very cold day of the season and many people moved to sit in the sun of the grandstand.
The game started off well with Rams having most of the possession. All the ball Rams had paid off when Phil went on a run starting just inside the Illawarra danger quarter, going past players in the process. He was just near the edge of the 18 yard box when he was brought down by an Illawarra defender. Though Phil got up to shoot and score the referee had already blown the free kick. It didn't make much difference as Phil slotted the free kick over the 'keepers head. The two teams played out the rest of the half evenly with our goalkeeper Jazza getting cold. Rams went into the half time break leading 1-0.
The second half started evenly until Tomas came on and scored a brilliant goal from outside the 18 yard box with his first touch of the ball to make the score 2-0. Illawarra had their chances to get back into the game but some great defending by Stoj and the rest of the defenders stopped them in their tracks. Late in the second half Piney sealed the game with a brilliant long range effort. Congratulations to the boys on a great win.

Macarthur RAMS v Sutherland 19 April 2009
What a great chance to see most of the U/11 Metro Cup Southern Branch teams at one venue, that was hosted by southern districts home ground Hajduk Stadium.
With grey skies above always threatening to spoil the day it held out to see 3 very high quality games with ours being the last at 11.am, running 20min behind schedule gave the coaches bit more time on hand to warm the teams up for final preparation to what promised to be a cracker of a game.
With all the paperwork in I.D cards checked, we heard the whistle blow, with ours boys kicking off, guilty of being slow starters in the past weeks we hit Sutherland by storm! With all our boys showing great intensity, speed and hunger to win the 50/50 balls, we spread the ball around the park to moving players running into gaps creating some good opportunities , spending 75% of the 1 st half in opposition territory our first & only goal was a right foot finish from our speedster the "Gazelle" Keaton Bates, thru some good midfield work by Callum and Jordan who fed a quality ball to our hotfoot forward to finish off midway thru the first half, continued pressure was applied and strong performances by our "backs" who kept our line safe & getting our midfield going forward to keep the opposition scoreless in the first 25min.
With our lonely goalkeeper Jazza getting cold hands in the occasional rain shower to touch the ball only on one or two occasions was our dominance of territory to go to the break at 1-nill up, but as you know it takes two half's to win a football match and feeling we had more points in us was the plan, it was to the credit of the determined Sutherland that came at us with guns blazing, with a corner ball that picked up speed as it skidded across the face of our goal and defenders at high speed was knocked in to level us at 1-1 made it a see-sawing battle with both sides going at each other just missing goal scoring chances. In the end we saw a very entertaining game and both teams collecting 1point each for the draw, I would like to say Greg and Kerry are doing a great job in moulding this team into a very strong and disciplined side for the years to come, where young players are learning new positions out of there comfort zones.
Congratulations boys on another strong performance. Parents I wont leave you guys out, from what I see we can be very proud of our club and as parents in general, with your excellent on ground behaviour as you have seen "not all are" you are all a pleasure to work with, See you all at Training.
